Romelu Lukaku Wants From Critics "A Bit More Respect"
Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku believes he deserves more in term of respect from critics since he has not being letting his club and fans down in goalscoring.
The Belgian who led United to their 2-1 victory against Chelsea on Sunday, has often been criticised for not having to score in matches with top flight clubs.
He scored the equalizer for United and assisted with a cross to Linguard for a header that gave his side the win.
Speaking about his goalscoring in the Premier League, the 24-year-old pointed out that his record has been very good and admitted yet he improvements to make on himself.
"I think I have got a nice record. I've scored a lot this season and I just want to keep going. I know that I can improve, and I want to improve and really work hard," he said.
Talking about how far he has come in the sport from the age of 16, the Belgian believes he has since not been fall short of expectations in term of goalscoring.
"I started playing when I was 16," he recalled "Year in, year out people expect 20 goal from me. I've been doing it for 10 years straight, I think I've proved myself."
He then went further to address the issues of being criticised for not doing enough against bigger teams.
"You expect a bit more respect but it's the situation we're in. I don't listen to it. I just want to improve and show the people what I can do on the pitch."
The 24-year-old joined Manchester United from Everton on £75 million deal in summer and he has scored 23 goals and made six assists this season.
