PyeongChang Winter Olympics: Oystein Braateen Wins Norway's First Game Gold Medal In Men's Freestyle Skiing
Norwegian Oystein Braateen won his first medal and country's first ever Olympic gold medal in men's ski slopestyle final at Phoenix Park, PyeongChang, South Korea.
Braateen gave all his very best to come on top, in a highly competitive final that saw nearly all competitors - 8 out of 12 - scoring over 90 points at the qualifier for final.
The 22-year-old picked 95.00 points at the final ahead of the United States' Nick Giepper won scored 93.60 point to win silver while Canada's Alex Beaulieu-Marchand won bronze with 92.40 points.
Braateen in an interview after skiing, admitted to the fact that the final was intense even many of those he looked up to could not make it.
"Just being a part of a final like this was amazing. The level was so high, so many of the guys I have looked up to and inspired me every day to go out and ride," he said.
He, however, becomes the second Norwegian to win a medal in men's freestyle skii after Audun Groenvold who won bronze in Vancouver 2010.
