PeongChang Winter Olympics: Simen Hegstad Kruger Wins Norway's First Games Gold Medal In Men's Skiathlon
Norwegian Simen Hegstad Kruger made a comeback from a poor start to beat his compatriots Martin Johnsruf and Hans Christer to the gold medal in Men's Skiathlon at the PeongChang Winter Olympics.
Kruger, at the start suffered a crash at the first lap and later finished quicker having crossed the line in one hour 16 minutes 20 seconds.
Norway took dominated the podium for the 30 kilometre cross-country Skiathlon with Martin Johnsrud winning the silver and Han Christer beat Russian Denis Spitsov to win Bronze medal.
This is the first medal won for Norway at the Games, and is in third position with four silver and three bronze behind Germany and the Netherlands.
