Matthew Knowles Attributes His Daughter Beyoncé's Success To Being Lighter Skinned
Nobody chooses their skin colour in simple knowledge, but according to father of the "Formation" singer Matthew Knowles, it appeared success is narrowly down to preference for skin colour amongst female artist especially.
The former Destiny's Child's manager attributed his daughter's success in her career to being "light" in complexion.
The 66-year-old grandfather was speaking at the promotion of his book Racism: From the Eye of a Child at Southern University in Texas where he blamed failure of some artists in their career for being dark in complexion.
"When it comes to black females, who are the people who get their music played on pop radio?" Matthew said.
Making his point clear he said, " Mariah Carey, Rihanna, the female rapper Nicki Minaj, my kids[meaning Beyoncé and Solange], and what do they all have in common?"
‘Mariah Carey, Rihanna, the female rapper Nicki Minaj, my kids [Beyonce and Solange], and what do they all have in common?’
And they interviewer responded saying " They're all lighter skinned."
Then the booker writer Matthew said "Do you think that's an accident?" and the interviewer replied saying "of course not."
