Laureus Awards: Roger Federer Wins World Sportsman Award As Serena Williams, Lewis Hamilton's Constructors Also Win
Tennis world No. 1 Roger Federer won the World Sportsman and Comeback of the Year awards and alongside him was American tennis ace Serena Williams who won World Sportswoman at the 2017 Laureus Awards ceremony on Tuesday.
The Swiss won his twentieth grand slam title at Australian Open and his sixth Rotterdam Open title which made him the oldest tennis player ever to holder win both title and also to be ever be world number one.
The 36-year-old in his acceptance speech talked about how his currently form has been incredibly surprising to him.
"I don't believe I would ever come back to this level. The year I had was something else. This means the world to me," he said.
Also in the winners list was the constructors Formula 1 champion and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton which won the Team of the Year award.
Hamilton accepted the award on behalf of the team and said he is "proud to be part" of the team.
