Philippe Coutinho Nears Completing Deal Worth £145 Million With FC Barcelona
Liverpool mid-fielder Philippe Coutinho reportedly is close to completing a record five-year deal worth £145 million with FC Barcelona.
The 25-year-old Brazil international deal is set to be the highest signing in this January transfer window, and second highest in football history after his compatriot Neymar Jr., who joined Paris St-Germain on record breaking deal of £200 million from Barcelona.
According to sources, the midfielder is set to join the Catalan club this month as the Brazilian currently have minor thigh injury but is set to undergo medical on Monday as talks have reached advance stage.
Barcelona have been in talks with Liverpool over the ace since last Summer but offers made the Spaniard club was rejected.
Coutinho would not be playing for his prospective new club in the Champions League until next season because he has already featured in the tournament with Liverpool at the knockout stage.
