Alexis Sanchez "Thrills" At Being First Chilean Player At Manchester United As Arsenal Swap Forward With Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Alexis Sanchez has completed his moved to Manchester United from Arsenal on a swap deal with Red Devils' midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan on Monday.
The Chile international was signed to a four and half years deal which would have him earn $14 million after tax annually, making him the highest paid footballer at Old Trafford with wages of £400-a-week.
On Sunday, the forward was spotted at the training section with United and later headed for his medical prior to the completion of the deal.
The 29-year-old forward in an interview with United said that having to play at historic Old Trafford stadium and being the first Chilean to do so is something he is proud of.
“I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world...The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down," the club's official website quoted the forward as saying.
"I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here.”
Meanwhile, Armenia international Henrikh who joined United from Borussia Dortmund in 2013, headed the opposite direction to Arsenal who was announced to be "on a long term deal".
