Australian Open 2018: Caroline Wozniacki Is The Champion, Beats Simona Halep
Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki has won her first ever grand slam title after beating Simona Halep at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
The 27-year-old had a tough fight with Halep but eventually secured a victory after playing three set 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
Speaking after the match by the courtside, she expressed her delight to see her dreams "come true" and praised her fans for their support through the tournament.
"I'm just taking a second here to hug Daphne," she said delightfully "To be here today is a drwam come true. It's a very emotional moment. The fans have been incredible all week, thanks everybody for coming out and supporting us. It's been an incredible two weeks."

The title winner was held to a tie-break in the first set with Halep, and dealt killer blows on the Romania to win the set. On the second set, Halep came into the game determine, in spite limping on her left and having physio done on her, took the win the set.
On the third set, Halep could not stand the defensive and impressive performance from the Dane who quickly moved up to win the match.
