Serena Williams Back On Tennis Court After Giving Birth, Could Not Beat Jelena Ostapenko
Four months after giving birth, nursing mother Serena Williams was "excited" to return to the tennis court but couldn't beat her counterpart Jelena Ostapenko at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship In Abu Dhabi.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner managed to win the second set but aftermath of baby nursing still had it way with her in the third set when she fell behind and lose to the Latvian by 2-6 6-3 2-10.
Speaking at an interview after expressed how delighted she felt to be back and admitted first match is often hard which couldn't be less expected of a person who just gave birth.
"I'm excited," she said on her return to play "It's good to be back on the court. This was such a good time for me. First matches back are always super-incredibly hard, especially after having a baby. It was great. I was glad I could do it here."
Her husband Alexis Ohanian also joined in cheering his wife up during the match as he posted to his Instagram account: "Mama is back in the office."
Serena has not played since she won her 23rd Grand Slam at the 2017 Australian Open in January.
