Jose Mourinho Says Spending £300 Million "Is Not Enough" For Manchester United
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly said the amount he spent on the team during Summer window transfer is not enough.
The 54-year-old Portuguese mentioned this in a press conference after United's 2-2 draw with Burnley FC on Boxing Day.
"We are in the second year of trying to rebuild a football team that you know is not one of the best teams in the world. Manchester City buy full-backs for the price of strikers..."[Spending £300m] is not enough.," he said.
He continued in his words to prove the reasons for saying amount spent was not enough because "big historical clubs" are punished by agents for the historic status in the market.
"The price for the big clubs is different than for the other clubs. The big historical clubs are normally punished in the market because of that history. I know what a big club is. One thing is a big club and another thing is a big football team. They are two different things," he said.
Mourinho joined United as manager in 2016 and upon his arrival at the club signed a record breaking contract of £89 million with Paul Pogba, and this year signed Romelu Lukalu for £75 million.
