German Players To Get €350,000 Bonus Each For 2018 World Cup Victory
The German football team reportedly are set to get bonus prize of € 350,000 each, if they defended the title at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
This is following an announcement made by the country's football association (DFB) President, Reinhard Grindel, who revealed the bonus packages it has for the team provided they won the title, which would them first the country to win the title back-to-back in Fifa World Cup history.
“For our players, it is a great motivation to become world champions back-to-back for the first time in the history of German football,” Reinhard mentioned "That would be a title for the eternity and certainly worth a special bonus. But you can feel in this team, that the sporting challenge is the main focus and not the economic aspect.”
The prize money was initial set at 300,000 before being increased to motivate the Joachim Loew led-team to deliver on the country's fifth World Cup title.
Germany won the title at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and will be kicking off the tournament against Mexico at the 2018 World Cup in Rusia.
