Publishing Oulet Apologises To Lupita Nyong'o For Photo Alteration On It Issue Cover
Lupita Nyong'o is having issues with a publishing outlet, for having to crop her hair off in picture on it issue cover.
The Academy Award winning actress, expressed her frustration with what she described as "prejudice" towards her personality for having to photo-shop her photo on the outlet's cover without her permission.
She took to her Instagram page and updated it with two originals and the doctored photo on the UK-based magazine's issue cover with an expressive caption.
"Disappointed that @GraziaUK edited out & smoothed my hair to fit a more Eurocentric notion of what beautiful hair looks like. #dtmh" the caption reads.
last week, she gratefully stressed and pointing out her dismay at GraciaUK in a post on Instagram as she says: "Being featured on the cover of a magazine fulfils me as it is an opportunity to show other dark, kinky-haired people, and particularly our children, that they are beautiful...there is still a very long way to go to combat the unconscious prejudice against black women’s complexion, hairstyle and texture."
The magazine has responded to the actress with an apology, and that what happened was not their "editorial request to the photographer for Lupita Nyong’o’s hair to be altered on this week’s cover, nor did we alter it ourselves" in any way, as it stated it regret for “not upholding the highest of editorial standards in ensuring that we were aware of all alterations that had been made."
