Amazon Studio To Develop "The Lord of the Rings" Into Epic Television Series
Amazon studio is set to bring to the television screen the live-action feature film adaption "The Lord of the Rings" following talks with other studios to develop it into an epic TV series.
The studio is already in talks with Warner Bros. Television and the late writer of the film estate of J.R.R. Tolkein over the development according to Variety.
This project falls in line with Amazon's planned programming interest, as the studio has been shifting its focus away from niche, naturalistic series for more international appeal programme with large-scale genre-based series such as "The Lord of the Rings".
The e-commerce giant's studio section has been making every effort to gets more international appeal, since the ousting of it executives the likes of Roy Price (studio president) over sexual harassment, Joe Lewis (head of scripted), and Conrad Riggs (head of unscripted) .
