Gerard Pique Sets to Quit Spain National Team Over Catalan Referendum

As Spain issues with Catalan self-determination persist, it is now taking its toll on national team, as FC Barcelona Gerard Pique prepares to quit international football.
The Catalan revered club played their 3 - 0 match win against Las Palmas behind closed-doors, as the League would not postpone the match as the requested.
As a result of the on-going political tension in the country, the 30-year-old Barca defender announced he possibly might retire from international football before world cup, if the referendum which he supports will be an issue with club - FC Barcelona is a revered club in the region.
Fans were not allowed into the Nou Camp stadium over the on-going referendum in the region
"I think I can continue," he said "But if the board really thinks I'm a problem, I will take a step back and leave the national team before 2018. There are many people in Spain who disagree with what happened today and believe in democracy."
