Obama Compares His Emotions Watching Malia Start College At Harvard To 'Like Open-heart Surgery'

Despite being Harvard University graduate in Law, former President Barack Obama managed to hold back tears when he went with his eldest daughter Malia, to start college where he is an alumni.
Given a speech at the Beau Biden Foundation event, the father of two compared his emotions to "open-heart surgery," on the day he and his wife Michelle, drove their daughter to college in a video posted by WDEL radio.
"For those of us who have daughters, it just happens fast. I dropped off Malia at college, and I was saying to Joe and Jill (Biden) that it was a little bit like open-heart surgery," he remarked.
"I was proud that I did not cry in front of her, but on the way back, the Secret Service was off, looking straight ahead, pretending they weren't hearing me as I sniffled and blew my nose. It was rough." he jokingly said.
The former First Daughter Malia, had a gap year during which she intern at Weinstein Co. in NYC before starting college at Harvard.
However, even gap year was not enough to hinder the 44th president emotion watching his daughter assume adulthood describing it as " a reminder that, at the end of our lives, whatever else we've accomplished, the things that we'll remember are the joys that our children and hopefully way later our grandchildren bring us."
