Apex Football Lawmakers IFAB Proposes 30 Minutes of Play Time Amongst Other Reforms

Football is about to change for the new as the sport's lawmakers are proposing an introduction of two periods f 30 minutes of play.
The International Football Association Board (Ifab) reportedly are proposing a change to play time and that might suggest scrapping of 45 minutes of play and introduction of 30 minutes instead.
Amongst the changes the sport's apex lawmakers intends to make, is proposing new play time which they claim would improved the "effective playing time" since actual active play time in 90 minutes is really 60 minutes.
They also proposed referees stopping the play right on the proposed time even when the ball is out of play, and another is about penalty: players would not be allowed to follow up on the ball if the goalie saved it and a goal kick to be awarded instead.
They also have in the proposal, making sure the referee's watch are linked to the stadium clock and officials will regulate stop watch as follows:
  • From a penalty being awarded to the spot-kick taken
  • From a goal being scored until the match resumes from the kick-off
  • From asking an injured player if he requires treatments to play restarting
  • From the signal of substitution to play restarting
  • From the referee showing a yellow or red card to play resuming
  • From a referee starting a pace a free-kick to when it is taken
According to sources, Ifab states the aim of the proposed reforms is to address the following:
  • Improving player behaviour and increasing respect
  • Increasing playing time
  • Increasing fairness and attractiveness
