Finidi George, Head Coach Still In the Making or Big Flop?

Raphael Onyedika scores the opening goal for Super Eagles in 2-1 loss to Rep. of Benin in the Fifa 2026 World Cup qualifier

Without a doubt, Finidi George is not have the debut he best wanted with the Super Eagles, which is a setback on the confidence fans have in him and perhaps his job hanging in the balance over struggling national team.

Our squad is blessed with incredible talent despite Victor Boniface not being available, but three players stand out as potential game-changers. Now, we are desperately hoping to qualify for the 2026 Fifa World  Cup.

The team lack the will to win home games, still they lost to Benin on a neutral ground with 2-1 on Monday, despite the importance of the game to the qualifying fate. Bear in mind that lost they lost game from behind to Benin.

Earlier, we drew against Lesotho and Zimbabwe followed by 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa with the opening goal from Themba Zwane, that almost handed Nigeria a loss until former Sheffield United midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru saved the situation with a crucial equalizing goal. As it is presently, the Super Eagles are fifth with three points in the Group C standings - the stat is not good for the team in any way.

Well  Finidi George has asked Nigerians to allow him do his job after the disappointment as draw on his debut against South Africa, and with the  newly-lost game to Benin, George maintained he is up to the task of being the Super Eagles manager.

Without insinuating that the stat outlook does not hold much prospects  for Nigeria, it is fair to recall that the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and it seems as if they are set to follow the stead.
