Kylian Mbappe Signs Five-year Contract With Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has advanced his transfer to Real Madrid as the former Paris Saint-Germain striker signed five-year contract with the La Liga champions.

Real had been on the lookout for the signing of the striker, who had repeatedly openly indicated his interest in the club while his contract with PSG was yet running. Until now, the French side was reluctant to let go of the player, holding him back to contract renewals.

Since the striker's contract with PSG expired on 30 June, he is due to leave as a free agent and the transfer was possible because the forward is understood to be willing to take a cut on his net annual salary - he is the highest-paid player in Europe.

Compared to his previous annual wages at PSG, it is understood that Mbappe is set to earn about £12.8m per season at Real. However, there is signing-on bonus clause of £128m (150m euro), which he is set to receive over the period of his contract.

The contract is yet a massive deal for the Frenchman, anyhow. In addition, the player's image rights is not excluded, but rather protected, and will be taking home in a fair percentage from that.

Real won the UEFA Champions League title for the 15th time on Saturday while the Frenchman missed out of playing in the final as his former club, PSG lost to Borussia Dortmund in the semi-final.

Mbappe's signing will further bolstered the attacking lineup of Real with Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo playing from the wings and Jude Bellingham getting the needed effort from Mbappe in the centre forward.
